What to expect from a NERA Inspection

Depending on the number of employees you have, and the quality of the records and systems that you currently keep a NERA inspection can last anywhere between 2 to 3 hours to 2-3days. When a NERA inspection is taking place the inspector may;

• Request to speak to the person or people who are in charge of record keeping and updating
• They will ask to see your current outlined process for disciplinary & grievance procedures
• Request to examine records in order to ensure that everything is compliant in the eyes of the law, copies of the records may be taken away
• Pay, deductions, working hours, overtime etc. will be reviewed to ensure your employees are receiving their full entitlements under Irish Law
• Interviews may be scheduled with current or recently left employees
• They will notify you of any non compliancy issues that they have identified and will give you a timeframe by which you must bring these non-conformances in line with legislative requirements
